Course Overview
Our level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy will teach you advanced massage techniques for use alongside the skills you have already gained from your level 3 sports massage diploma. These skills include trigger points, soft tissue release, positional release and more. You will develop your assessment skills, allowing better understanding of your client’s condition, consequently, treating them more effectively and efficiently. Finally, you will learn about common injuries and dysfunctions and how to devise an appropriate treatment plan for them.
You will need to complete three units in order to complete your level 4 certificate in sports massage therapy. These are:
Unit 1 Conducting Subjective and Objective Assessment
In unit 1 you will cover advanced assessment skills, fine tune your anatomy knowledge and look at common injuries and dysfunctions.
Unit 2 Provide Sports Massage Techniques and to Prevent and Manage Injury
Unit 2 introduces you to a new range of massage techniques and injury management stratagies. As a result you will be able to work more effectively with the fascia and on a neuromuscular level. Furthermore you will learn to help your clients recover from injury safely and quickly.
Unit 3 Treatment Modalities to Support Soft Tissue Repair
In unit 3 you will learn how to change and adapt your massage techniques when treating injured or damaged tissue.
Assessment
The Active IQ level 4 certificate in sports massage is assessed in a range of ways. You will be set short online quizzes, tasks and worksheets. Furthermore you will be required to build and keep a portfolio of evidence. There are three practical assessments and a multiple choice theory assessment. You will be clearly guided through the assessment process at the beginning of your massage course. And we will be here to help and support you all the way through your course, ensuring you pass all assessments easily.
Delivery
As with the Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy delivery is mainly based online with a wide range of tutorials, live seminars, videos and additional information along with an Active IQ manual. You will have full access to highly qualified, experienced and motivated tutors, who still practice now. And as a result are still very up to date with their clinical and industry knowledge.
You will have four workshop days alongside your online e-learning platform learning. These in person workshops help to refine and hone your skills. They also allow for guided practice and a chance to ask face to face questions. The workshops are delivered in small groups (max 4 learners) allowing students plenty of contact time with their tutor.
Active IQ Manual
You will be supplied with an electronic copy of the official Active IQ manual. We can provide you with a paper copy for an additional cost. Just select your required option when you add your sports massage course to the cart.
Mentoring
All of our level 4 sports massage certificate graduates get the benefit of our mentoring service for 3 months after graduation. The idea being that you get access to our knowledge, experience and help. Moreover you will benefit from knowing that you have someone there for you when starting out in a new venture. Equipment
If you have already completed your level 3 diploma in sports massage with us or are practising you will have the required equipment. If not as the course is online and you will have to carry out practical work at home you will need to get yourself a massage couch, these cost anything from £60 to £400. Good second hand couches can be found. Towels, pillows and massage lotion are essential and are generally inexpensive.
Additional Information
Your insurance should already be in place if you are already practising or have recently completed your level 3 diploma in sports massage with us. However, if you do not have insurance we will organise your student insurance for you valid for one year. Once completed you will be able to upgrade to full insurance. You will be responsible for renewing your own insurance after the first year. Your insurance is organised with Balens.
